Your wedding day is one of the biggest milestones of your life, so it’s natural to want every aspect of the day to be perfect – including your appearance. For some soon-to-be brides, cosmetic surgery timelines become a part of their pre-wedding planning. And if you’re considering facial plastic surgery, you need to pay particular attention to healing timelines so that you plan far enough ahead and have the right expectations for your big day. No bride wants to spend time covering up swelling or feeling self conscious about how her face looks ahead of the ceremony.
Many younger brides consider rhinoplasty as a top way to feel their absolute best about how they look for their wedding. If this applies to you, take a look at this rough timeline for perfectly planning rhinoplasty before your wedding.
2 to 3 Months to Choose and Schedule a Surgeon
Plan to take a few months to find the best rhinoplasty surgeon for you and to schedule your procedure. Keep in mind that it’s a good idea to consult with more than one facial plastic surgeon to find the best fit, and many of the top facial plastic surgeons in your area may be booking several months out.
6 to 12 Months to Heal and Develop Results
Of course, you can’t have nose surgery and then walk down the aisle the next day. After nose surgery, it can take 6 to 12 months for your results to fully develop and for residual swelling to completely diminish. So as a general rule of thumb, start your search for your rhinoplasty plastic surgeon at least 12 months before your wedding day, and preferably more like 15 months ahead. This will depend on the amount of work that needs to be done. This should give you plenty of time to choose a facial plastic surgeon, schedule your surgery, and fully recover before your big day.
Nonsurgical Alternatives
If you are concerned about not having enough time to heal after nose surgery in time for your wedding day, you might consider nonsurgical alternatives. Sometimes called a “liquid nose job,” injectables can be used to subtly reshape the nose without surgery. These treatments are ideal for subtle reshaping and adjustment of the nose, but remember that you will not be able to achieve anywhere near the more noticeable results of a surgical procedure, and fillers will not be able to help if you are wanting to make your nose look smaller.
