Laser Treatments
If your complexion looks dull, uneven, blotchy or wrinkled, you may be a good candidate for laser skin treatments. Laser rejuvenation smoothes and tightens the skin by stimulating the body’s natural healing process to produce more collagen and reorient collagen already present, resulting in a firmer, more even complexion.
At the Boston Center for Facial Plastics, we carefully assess the needs of each individual and develop a customized approach to achieve the best results.

When to Consider Laser Skin Resurfacing
The most common reasons women and men consider getting laser resurfacing include:
- Sun damage
- Age spots
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Sagging skin
- Acne scars or other scar treatment
- Uneven skin tone or texture
The best candidates for laser skin treatments are in good overall physical and mental health and have realistic expectations for their results.
Before Your Laser Treatment
Prior to your first laser skin treatment, you will have a consultation with either Dr. Ezzat. During this time, you can talk about your goals for laser therapy and any concerns you might have. You will also have the chance to learn more about the procedure and gain a better understanding of the kinds of results you can expect.
You may be asked to use a special topical ointment or cream in the days or weeks preceding your procedure. Dr. Ezzat may also ask you to avoid certain activities, medications or products.
Depending on your needs, Dr. Ezzat may also recommend other treatments to get the best final outcome. Deep facial pits or scars may benefit from dermal fillers or fat injections, while dynamic wrinkles could see better results from BOTOX® Cosmetic injections.
Your Laser Resurfacing Procedure
Laser skin resurfacing is a same-day treatment. Dr. Ezzat may use a local numbing agent to keep you comfortable during the procedure, and in some cases, he may use general anesthesia. He will then pass a laser over your skin several times while your eyes remain protected. Laser treatments can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours per treatment, depending on how much of the face is being treated.

After Your Laser Treatment
You may wish to take anywhere from 3 days to 2 weeks off of your normal routine after a laser treatment, depending on the type of laser used and the size of the treated area. You can expect some redness and swelling in the first couple of days. It’s important to keep the skin clean and moisturized while you heal. You should also take care to avoid direct sun exposure and maintain strict use of a sunscreen with a protection factor of 60 or greater. Dr. Ezzat will inform you when you may begin wearing makeup and return to your usual products.
You should start to see your results develop within 3 weeks. The most common approach for laser therapy is to schedule a series of treatments spaced 2 months apart.
Your New Look
After your laser skin resurfacing, you should notice a more vibrant look to your complexion. Wrinkles and scars should be minimized, while your skin tone may appear brighter, younger and healthier. In many cases, the results from laser treatments continue to develop for up to 1 year.
