Schedule a Consultation
(857) 350-4205

Knowing what to expect every step along the way is half the battle when it comes to properly preparing for and getting the most out of your rhinoplasty.

This quick guide will help you get an idea of what you can expect before, during and after your nose job

What to Expect before Your Nose Job

The first step of any rhinoplasty is to schedule a consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon, preferably one who also has ample experience performing nose surgery.

During your consultation, your plastic surgeon will provide an assessment of both your anatomy and your goals to help you determine if a nose job is the best solution. You should have plenty of time to ask questions about rhinoplasty while visiting with the surgeon. If nose surgery is a good fit for your goals, you should also receive a list of detailed instructions as to which medications and supplements to quit taking leading up to your procedure and what else you can do to prepare for nose surgery.

What to Expect During Nose Surgery

Rhinoplasty is typically performed as an outpatient procedure using general anesthesia, although local anesthesia may be used in some cases. The surgical techniques used for your nose surgery should be custom-tailored to meet your specific needs and goals. These can be discussed with your plastic surgeon prior to your surgery day.

Some people find that injectable fillers can enhance the results of their nose job.

What to Expect While You Recover

Most people take about two weeks off work to recover from their nose job. During the first week of healing, try to keep your head elevated to promote blood flow and minimize the risk of complications. As you continue to heal over the next weeks and months, you should notice swelling and bruising diminishing on their own, and your final results should gradually take shape.
